Assignment 0: Becoming One With The Wiki.

You will be using the Wiki (http://mat101.pbwiki.com) to submit your assignments. These assignments will be worth 20% of your grade. Entering assignments on the wiki is straight forward.
  1. Go to the page you wish to edit.
  2. Click on the Edit Page button at the top.
  3. Type away. You will notice that the editor has buttons to perform simply formatting. If you have
  4. ever used Word, you can use the editor.
  5. Click Save at the bottom.
The real feature of a wiki is that nothing is permanent. All the versions you have saved are stored in a database and you can compare and / revert to a prior version. This is important if you

Exercise:

To exhibit these features we will perform the following task.
  1. Go to the wiki (http://mat101.pbwiki.com)
  2. Click on the link (your name) that is your page. Note, if you haven't done so already, you will be asked to create this page, say yes.
  3. Click Edit Page.
  4. On this page, enter two things you don't like about math.
  5. Click Save
  6. Now we will add information.
  7. Click Edit Page.
  8. Enter one thing you like about math (come on, work with me here, make something up)
  9. Click Save.
  10. Click Edit Page.
  11. Delete one of the things you don't like about math.
  12. Click Save.
  13. At the bottom of the page, under Page Information, you will see [history], click on that.
  14. You will see a screen that looks similar to this: 
  15. Choose the top two radio buttons, one in each column and you will see date and times at the opt of the page in red and green along with text in red and green. This is showing you what changes have been made between the two versions. Some text will be crossed out showing that the text was deleted. Try clicking on several buttons looking at the results.
  16. Find the green version that shows the two things you don't like about math and the one thing you like about math.
  17. Click on the green date and time.
  18. Look at the page when it comes up, there is a button that says Revert to Prior Version. Click on that button.
  19. You should now be back at the page that lists 2 things you don't like about math and one thing you like.
