What is a NEAP/NATP?NEAP is short for Novell Education Academic Partner and NATP is short for Novell Academic Training Partner. Novell Corporation established a training and certification program for many of their products. The NATP is the new name for what use to be referred to as NEAP. This program was designed by Novell so that their curriculum can be offered at Colleges and High Schools throughout the country. Back to TopCan I purchase the textbooks elsewhere? No. These textbooks are ordered directly by the college bookstore from Novell. They are not available in regular bookstores or online. The college has an ID number that allows them to order the books used for CMP 208 & CMP 209. There are other authorized locations that do carry the same books that are used for the course, but these locations sell the books at a much higher price. Back to TopWhat version of Netware is taught?Currently CMP 208 uses Netware 5.1 to demonstrate network management concepts. Back to TopWho can I ask for help with this course?Professors Stuart Kaplan and Deana Spelman currently teach this course full-time. Please check our web pages for our contact information. The department has many full-time and part-time Technical Assistants familiar with the product and the course. The first floor lab is located in B116 and the second floor lab is located in B225. Someone in either of these labs can either help you or direct you to someone that can be of assistance. Keep in mind, the lab staff will not do your work for you, only assist you. Always remember to bring your NCC ID to use the lab facilities. Back to TopHow can I schedule to take a certification test? There are two companies that offer the certification exam. Prometric and VUE both offer the certification exam at their authorized centers. You must contact either of these companies to take the exam. The exam is the same, regardless of which company you choose to take the test. These tests are offered upon demand and are taken on a computer. Each company has its own rules as to when an exam can be scheduled, but usually the test can be scheduled 24 hours in advance or less, based upon availability of testing hours and computers. The price is the same regardless of which testing company you use. Back to TopHow do I setup a server and workstation at home?In order to setup a server and workstation at home, you will need two computers. One will be the server and the other will be the workstation. The computer that will acts as the server CAN NOT run the Windows operating system at the same time. Netware is an operating system and needs all of the resources of that computer in order to function. Be sure that the computer that you use for the server will not be used for anything else and the hard drive of the server can be totally erased prior to Netware being installed on it. In order to install a Netware server, please refer to the steps in your advanced book, section 1 for details. Any computer running windows 95 or higher can act as a workstation. DOS/Windows 3.1 computers can also act as a workstation to a Netware server, but many of the exercises and tasks can not be accomplished from a DOS/Windows 3.1 computer. You will need to install the netware client for your version of windows on your workstation. The updated version of the client can be found at Novell's download area. Make sure that the server and workstation are properly connected using network boards, wires, etc. Back to TopHow can I login into the classroom server from home or work?In order to connect to your classroom server from home, you will need to install the Netware client for your version of windows on your workstation. The updated version of the client can be found at Novell's download area. Any computer running windows 95 or higher can act as a workstation.
